Midwest Pet Finder has 2 methods of dealing with the scammers:

Scam Ads

When ads are run on our site, we verify the location of the poster through IP Address. If there is still suspicion, we Google all of the contact information on the order, until we have verified that we are dealing with a legitimate seller. Our system is not automated, so that we can verify all points of an ad, before it is released to the public.

Scam E-mails

When E-mails are forwarded to us, we verify if the e-mail is a scam. If it is, the e-mail address, phone number, and any other contact info the scammer sent, is added to our know scammers list. This list is crawled by Google very frequently. If you Google a scammers e-mail address, and they are listed on our page, the Scam E-mail page will usually be in the top 5 results. In most cases, it will be number 1.

Is there anything else we can do?

Sadly, no there isn't. Due to the fact that the scammers are in Nigeria, our government has no jurisdiction over them. The Nigerian government supports their scammers. Apparently, scamming us, is their highest form of revenue.
